// Terrarium Tips :

Photobucket
a few weeks ago, my boyfriend and i decided that it would be fun to create some terrariums to have at our desks at work. we both work in office jobs and so we're in our work space for more than half of our waking day. we decided that it was time to spruce things up. so we went out to the thrift shops around our home in search of the perfect glass vases and bottles that would house our little baby succulents. we were lucky enough to find some really pretty ones.

we then found some really really cute little plants at home depot to add to our pots. [there are step by step instructions on how to create your own terrarium at the end of this post]. but it was a really fun time spending time together and creating something so fun. i would definitely recommend this as an easy, fun and inexpensive weekend activity. enjoy!

your container can be almost anything at all. from dishes and vases to bottles and cups, your terrarium is your creation. get creative and have fun with it.

Photobucket
a layer of thick, course sand or pebbles is needed to properly drain the water in the terrarium.

Photobucket
adding any kind of moss [i used spaghnum moss] will prevent the soil from settling down into your pebbles. it will of course allow the water through, but not the soil.

Photobucket
regular potting soil works just fine. no need to get too fancy.

care should be taken when completing this step. you want the plants to be arranged in a fashion that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Photobucket
add ornaments or other fun decorations. this completes the terrarium.
