Completely irrelevant to the song choices, and there's a twist: I'm not giving you the playlist up front. No sir. You'll have to download and witness all 10 tunes yourself! Why? Why not! I thought this would be a fun little change of pace (though minor) and you'll just have to trust me! MIXTAPE MONDAY: summer clothes.

This week's theme was supposed to be "guilty pleasures" but time just did not allow me to wrangle all of those delciously bad songs so that will just have to wait. I pre-made next week's mix so that shouldn't be a problem but today's is appropriate for the weather. It's so bitterly cold outside and it's spitting rain. It's not Tennessee's finest, that's for sure. But this mix is a perfect blend of summer time jams that will make you feel warm all over again! Enjoy!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: from where i'm standing...

Just a little mixtape to get you through the week. The first song has always been one of my favorites, and even more so now that Mike and I watched "I'm Reed Fish" the other night and Schuyler Fisk was one of the leads... She's adorable in every way. While I am basing this solely on roles I've seen her play and YouTube video performances, she seems so down to earth and kind. I like those kinds of musicians. Anyway!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: santa monica dreams.

I know what you're thinking... you're thinking "Gee Kaelah... an Angus and Julia Stone song to start off the mixtape three weeks in a row?! Can't you start with anything else? Do you like anything else?" Well, to be fair, I've been listening to this album non-stop for the past three weeks and I think it's slowly but surely driving Mike insane. The entire roadtrip was him saying "I think you like two songs and two songs only..." but he was quickly hooked, too. This starting song is worlds different from the others, but their haunting voices should be appreciated! Also- I gave myself a 4 minute time limit on creating the album art... I've been working on a social media campaign for class all day and I realized what time it was and noticed that Mike would be walking in the door any minute now... and we've gotta rush the girls to the puppy park before it gets too dark so yes... 4 minutes. The back is a bit hard to read (Jane Austen will do that to ya!) so I took a screenshot of the playlist on iTunes, too. That way you can tell what you're about to download! Enjoy!

Better late than never! I didn't have proper internet access last night at our hotel (or Sunday night... guh!) but our hotel here in Wilmington seems to have lightning fast wifi! Huzzah! I didn't have time to do album art either (I know!) because we've been too busy driving, having sing-a-longs, exploring, and taking in all that is North Carolina! I hope you don't hate me for it!  I can say, however, that this mixtape is awesome. I'm such a fan! The opening song is my current favorite so I hope you love it just as much!

MIXTAPE MONDAY: boys i'd totally snog.

Haha excuse the title/theme of this week's mixtape! It's all about the "Boys we'd totally shag (I mean snog)"...  moreso in that "yeah they may be hipsters but at least they're hot" kind of way. Even Little Boots... because I mean, let's be honest here, she's hot. We'd make out with her, too. Haha (Don't get too riled up!)

No but really... this is the mixtape to appreciate all hipster boys and to finally admit it. It's catchy. It's fun. Sure, it's been done and it's a bit old news, but we can still appreciate it. Isn't it the hip thing to do? To like things after they've long since fallen off the radar? Whatever, whatever! I just wanted to do some fun album art!

My mixtape for Monday was a bit belated. I apologize. Life is always happening. Last night Mike and I watched Away We Go (per suggestion of a reader) and I always forget just how much I love love love that movie until I re-watch it. Mike had never seen it before so he was pleasantly surprised by how great it was. The entire soundtrack was done by Alexi Murdoch and thus inspired this mix! Hope you enjoy it! Whether I've had a long day, I'm feeling crappy about myself, or I got in an argument with someone... I play a handful of songs and without a doubt I instinctively start feeling a bit more chipper. Just felt like sharing them on a cool Saturday morning! (And some of my favorite snippets, too!)

Happy post #666, little blog! (Creepy, right?) This week's mixtape is courtesy of Laura! She made it for me and sent it in a sweet little package and it's full of fantastic win! PS; Tomorrow I'm going to attempt a "Day In the Life" or a "Document A Day" style photo journey! It'll probably be crazy with the move, but I'm gonna try! This week's mixtape couldn't be any more of a hodgepodge. I ran across these gorgeous images online and after I started making the "album art" I found the Flickr to the photographer! The images are from DavidRN's Flickr Photostream and man oh man! He has some incredibly beautiful things on there (Especially the holga shots!). Be sure to click his link and drop by his stream. You'll be impressed, I promise! I know the images don't go together at all but they were both so gorgeous, I wanted to show both of them! I know I've already played out this typeface but I can't help it! I'm obsessed! It's so wonderful and I want to use it on everything! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the mixtape. This week's mix is a bit moody and broody. Very reminiscent of the London photo sported on the cover. BTW, the photographs are from maximilianclark's Flickr photostream. It's a limited collection but beautiful nonetheless. Effortlessly perfect for this list of tunes.

I should mention, however, this mix has nothing to do with the weather here in sunny NYC. It's not the usual place you'd think of with scorching heat and humidity that makes you want to walk around naked (actually, this sounds like home... sweet ol' Tennessee) but right now we're experiencing a mega heat wave. It's only 86F here (and an unbelievable 97F in Nashville! That feels like 107!) so my heart goes out to Mike and everyone back in the south. I'll appreciate my air conditioning just a litttttttle bit more now!
