She's Gone Country

I couldn't help but get super silly when naming this outfit post. I was uploading the pictures when "She's gone country" came into my head. You know the Alan Jackson song? Probably not. But it goes like this: "She's gone country, look at them boots. She's gone country, back to (look at) her roots." haha! I figured "look at" was more appropriate considering my hair is like 4 weeks un-dyed and all kinds of ridiculous. I'm in between hair stages right now so you'll see some interesting 'dos in the next few outfit posts. The weather in Nashville has been awful so we had to take several days' outfits in our hallway instead. Everything is sopping wet and chilly!

This dress was a sweet surprise from Miss Jen of Jen Loves Kev. She said she had a dress she was going to  list in her Shop My Closet but that it was perfect for me so she sent it along instead! I was tickled pink to open it up and see what it looked like. I've worn it a million and one times but this is the first time I've had a chance to shoot it. These boots are my new Beams from Blowfish! Oh my stars they are rocking my world. I have the issue of really big calves (thanks to like 14 years of softball) so I can't wear most of them. I ordered these on a whim hoping they'd work and luckily they did! I can wear them pulled all the way up to my knees or I can slouch them down some. They're so comfortable, too. I wore them the other night to work and my feet never got sore. Win! I've always had boot envy so I'm glad I can call these mine!

We've been hard at work on launching Honeybean's new online shoppe as well as restocking Hive + Honey so stay tuned! That's coming up real soon!

She's Got a Cupcake Heart

Your comments on Sunday's Honest to Blog post were so brilliant, thank you! You've really helped me feel better about the whole situation and your words mean everything! My brain is a'buzz with plenty of other topics to dive into for the new weekly feature and I hope each and every one of you will chime in all the same. (Don't worry, they won't all be self-depreciating!)

I got this dress in the mail from Shop Speedy Girl (Have you seen the site? The idea behind it is genius! It's like a flash sale site similar to Ideeli, Fab, etc, but only the cutest clothing.. and only 2 a day! You've gotta be quick! Peep the past items to see the kind of goodies they stock!) To be honest I wasn't sure how much I'd love it on my body after I picked it (This girl don't need no more of that volume if ya know what I'm sayin!) but I put it on yesterday to prance around in and I just fell in love. The pleats and ruffles couldn't be more perfect. The soft blue, the hearts... I die! I felt so pretty! I opted to tone it down with black Heda wedges and a caramel ruffle cardigan. Makes it slightly more Autumn appropriate. Next time I'm breaking out the mustard tights! Or maroon! Can I wear this dress everyday?!

Mike and I are in full DIY mode for this month's Flea Market! We've got 2 booths so please come out and see us! We're gonna have the shoppe super stocked with rad things! October 21-23rd! xo

Unintentionally American

I was feeling festive yesterday. Apparently. I am no stranger to red, white + blue combinations and this one is no exception. Sometimes they have an Americana feel, sometimes they're straight up nautical. I haven't decided which one this is more of (maybe nautical because of the hint of gold in the accessories?!) Who knows. One thing is for certain though: I am wearing the cutest cardigan ever! I hate that we forgot to get a detail shot of it, but I really haven't taken it off since I received it on Saturday. I guess forgetting to photograph it is a good excuse to wear it again really really soon! This is the cardigan and holy cute right?! The little swan and bows and lace. I die! It's also a fantastic weight. I've been having issues with cardigans lately. I know it's probably because it's like 100+ degrees outside, but all of the ones for sale now are this lightweight stretchy fabric... no no no! I like my cardigans of medium weight and thickness so I can wear them year-round and they don't stretch out awkwardly. That's why I'll probably go back and buy a replacement of this one just to have it for when I (undoubtedly) wear it to shreds. (Seriously. Have you felt the Target cardigans lately?! I want to go back to the ones they had last year with the ruffles! C'mon!)

This bright red dress is the sister dress to the one in this outfit post! Yes, when I say I buy multiples (in quantity and color) of the things I like, I'm really not kidding. It's a lightweight dress but the bottom has some sort of structure about it that I can't quite put my finger on. It keeps it held down when a gust of wind comes, but I don't feel like I'm dying under fabric in the Nashville summer. Paired with the same thrifted belt and my new limited-edition Betsey Johnson bag I snagged on Ideeli last week... win! This is also the first time I've worn these Blowfish shoes! These are the Romans and I've had them for months! Probably like.. 4 months now? I just haven't found the perfect outfit for them. Voila!

Today is a day of productivity! I'm already eyeball deep in an over the top girly blog design (so fun! I love doing stuff like this!) and I'll be launching the first set of fabric bows on Hive + Honey! I'm editing photos for the closet part of our loft tour (eeeeek! It's almost my dream closet!), and then I'm mailing off H+H packages! Oh, and my bike gets delivered today! Hooray Tuesday!

PS; Last day to vote for me in the three categories of the AE contest! (Some dude just blew up from like 3rd place by getting 200+ votes overnight. Boo!) ONE // TWO // THREE. Thank you to everyone who has voted so far. It means a lot to me and I hope that if I'm lucky enough to make it to the finals then you'll stick beside me once more! The cash prize could do so many wonderful things for my dream business! xo

July Valentine

If I could wear pale pink, red, and white all day every day, I would. I mean, I guess I can right? There's that rad woman who only wears pink and her entire house is pink... and maybe even her dog. Not going to lie, I love her! Too much? Maybe.. But still! Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday simply because everything is a lovely hue and there are hearts everywhere. I just love it, okay! Yesterday's outfit definitely reminded me a bit of V-Day and now I'm itching to watch the movie, heh.

The heat + humidity has been insufferable as of late. I'm sure you're tired of reading that in every single post but seriously, I don't like to leave the house. We took these in the hall of our building, right outside our door, because it was too icky to go outside. We were drenched in sweat by the time we were done (in less than 5 minutes!). I just can't hang. Chicago is looking better and better! Of course I know it gets hot there, too, but man... anything to escape this!

I opted to wear my new AX PARIS dress with a lightweight cardigan I picked up from Target. I had to have it because of the blush tone. So cute! Yes, I realize talking about it being super friggin' hot and wearing a cardigan at the same time is a bit dumb, but whatever. I peeled it off of me and probably threw it on the chair for the rest of the day. The dress is kinda maybe a bit short on me so I'll probably get more wear out of it come Autumn/Winter (even though it's a Summer dress) just because I can wear colored tights with it. But I totallllly love the 50's style silhouette of the dress. You probably can't see it but the fit of the top of it is stellar. I had my trusty bike shorts on as usual (impatiently awaiting the arrival of my new bike!), and my black Blowfish Romans which round out my collection of that wedge in every color! I really love them. I had to add the belt for a little bit of ~edge. Oh! Annnddd... the headband is a new design that will be in the shoppe tomorrow! It's felt and adorable and lays flat on your head! You can get them in 15 colors (!!! more coming soon) and you can get them on elastic, metal headbands, barrettes, etc. Stop by tomorrow and snag one (or seven) up! Is that enough parentheses for all of you?! Ha!

Pretty floral dress c/o AX Paris (on sale for $19.99! I want them all!)

PS; Blowfish is currently having a sale for any two pairs of shoes for $39! That's a super duper steal.

PPS; My friend Shelby entered a contest at AE for a chance to wind up in an AE advertisement (? I think?) and it'd be lovely if you wanted to vote for her! I'm thinking about entering (a different category, of course) just to see if a tattooed gal could ever end up working with AE, ha!

Edit: I entered! Why not right?! What have I got to lose?! I entered three photos and all it takes is one click each! I'd really appreciate your support! ONE // TWO // THREE xo

CranApple Rose

I'm kind of having fun incorporating the color palette into the photos. What do you think? This is what I wore yesterday, and to be honest, it's what I've been wearing for the majority of my days lately. Nashville has become so unbearably hot that even someone who has lived here their whole life can't help but complain. With that being said I needed a dress that was light-weight, long enough to wear without tights, and well of course it had to be cute. Tulle to the rescue! I have several Tulle dresses and I love each one more than the last. I first found the brand when I was visiting San Francisco every 6 months and my favorite little shop, Therapy, in Mountain View stocked them. I loaded up on every trip and I still wear every single one of them! It's one of those brands that I'll know I'll wear and adore until the end of time. The quality of the pieces is so stellar and the designs are way too cute! (Seriously, look at this one! I want it in both colors so badly! It's so dreamy!) I also love that they're a brand that stands behind their customers. If you follow them on Twitter then you can get access to some snazzy deals... even 50% off! Also recently added to my collection: this and this! (And yes, I know I have the sleeveless version of that first one but how could I resist?!?! That print is just my favorite!)

A few of my favorites still in the shop are:

Anywhoo, last night I switched into something else and we headed down to the Apple store and then work. The stellar fella at Apple replaced my iPhone that I left in the rain free of charge, so now Mike happily has a 4! Our new friends who just moved to Nashville from Minnesota, Christina and Brian, drove down to my bar to hang out last night. It was super awesome to meet them and they were fabulous! Hopefully there will be more hangouts in the future! The bar had a slow start but by 11:30 we were packed. It didn't slow down until I turned the lights on at 2am. I like those nights because they often mean good money and time flies. We pored into bed at 3:30am and here we are!

No telling what today has in store for us but I'm ready to get up and out of this house. Cabin fever going on! Happy Sunday, honeybees!

What have you been up to this weekend?!

PS; If pretty dresses weren't enough to make you check out Tulle, almost all of them are on sale! Woohoo!

PPS; I opted for Essie's Mamba nail polish (of course it's chipped on me) and ELF's matte lip color in Coral to round out the nude coral theme. Matches the outfit and building nicely if I do say so myself! I'll be sharing my favorite makeup this week! ;)

Flashback in Fayetteville

Mike and I have been planning a trip down to Fayetteville, Tennessee to check out the huge fabric shop out there. Even though we slept in and got a late start on Wednesday, we opted to hop in the car and drive a couple hours down there. I have to say, it was well worth it! I bought so much stretch lace and pastel elastic! So many fun headbands to come! We poked around the little town and fell in love with the downtown scene. I won't share too many photos (just the outfit ones for now!) but I'll post the rest of the Fayetteville photos soon! The buildings are so quaint and cute! Definitely the style of building I could see my shoppe in one day... just maybe a slightly larger town!

This is a dress that I picked up at Forever 21 a couple of weeks ago. It's actually quite short and I'm almost in disbelief that I've worn it out and about without any tights or the like. I've tried keeping all of the clothes I've bought this year in the "I can wear this without tights" category because it's just so hot! Something like 15 days in the mid 90's already? Take it from me... paired with the insane humidity of Tennessee, it's unbearable! Luckily our jaunt around the town was a bit later in the evening so it didn't get too bad. The cardigan is also from Forever 21 and I've been wearing it a lot lately. Oops! haha

We finally got a chance to respond to all of the photoshoot emails last night. I didn't think we'd ever get through them. Hopefully we'll get some good shoots out of them but I'll be sharing some photos of a shoot that Mike did on Tuesday here shortly! Stay tuned and Happy Weekend! xo

The Graduate

I literally have like 20 pictures to post from this outfit. I can't help it. I love this dress and these shoes and this bag and most of all, I really really love the lighting. Mike works wonders with his photo equipment. This again was taken out in the hall of our building. So much character! Ah! This outfit is what I wore on graduation day! This dress was such a lucky find at Marshall's for a whopping $19! (I've been tirelessly searching for another one in a size medium so if you find one and wanna send it to me, I'll PayPal you!) It's absolutely perfect. The color is incredible and I love the lace top and chiffon bottom. (Pay attention to the color palette, honeybees! You might just be getting a sneak peek at wedding colors!)

This beautiful, but totally simplistic, necklace was a gift from Melissa of Little Pancakes! She sent me 4 gorgeous pieces in the mail! Thank you Melissa! Oh my stars they're so sweet! As most of you know, I'm totally not a jewelry person at all but these were so dainty and feminine. They're a nice balance to the huge tattoo they lay across. I've never been able to get that medium with the two so I'm super appreciative! The others will be making their appearance within the next several days! Lipstick, nail varnish, high heeled shoes... now necklaces! I'm a new woman!

This gorgeous caramel leather bag was a gift from Mike! He surprised me on Friday evening when he came home from work! It's so so beautiful and I had been fawning over this bag for several weeks now. I had every intention of saving all of my graduation money to buy it (after I purchase a button machine) but he surprised me by "being stuck in traffic" on his way home from work! It's a gorgeous Gansevoort bag by Michael Kors and it smells of the richest leather and it has the shiniest buckle details. And I'm super in love with it because it has the two pockets on the sides that are perfect for keys and my iPhone! It's the little things... Isn't Mike just the sweetest?!

I simply had to put the last photo in there. It's so totally my personality. Even if it's a less-than-flattering photo, so what! That's how I look 90% of the time anyway! Ha. The shoes I'm wearing are my new Blowfish Shoes! They're the Romans and oh my stars, they give my Garrens a run for their money! The rich color and the placement of the straps are totally perfect! They're comfy, too! I didn't faceplant on stage while receiving my diploma so that's good! The only bummer is that they're a little tall in the back so they rub the back of my calf/ankle and that can start to get a little painful after several hours in them. All worth it though!

I've been thinking about life a lot lately... post-graduation and whatnot. It's a deep thought process so I'll probably share it with you all soon. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback! xo
