Guilty Pleasures: TV Shows

I know I've written a post on tv shows before, my favorites and inquiring about y'alls. But I thought it'd be fun to poll all of the new readers we have, too! Mike and I are obsessed with Dexter. I remember buying the first season on DVD right before I went to Europe for a few weeks. I planned on watching it on the plane ride into Budapest. Instead, I watched half of one episode and then decided it wasn't for me. Something didn't click. It wasn't until the following year that I gave it another go since Mike was insistent. From then on, we'd try and squeeze in as many episodes as we could in that unusually-cold winter. (Sometimes we'd watch as many as six or seven in one sitting! We'd stay up until 6am watching them!) Of course the show has slowed quite a bit, and the first 3 or 4 seasons were undoubtedly the best, but we're sticking it out through all 8! Who caught season 6's finale the other night?!? Whoa!

Anyway, my parents gifted us some of the seasons DVDs and now all we lack is Season 3. Mike really wants to rewatch all of them (!!!) but I'm just not sure I have it in me! Do you like to rewatch tv series?! I always wondered if that was a strange thing to do... I'm not sure why. Anyway.

Since Dexter was coming to an end, we decided to start watching Mad Men on Netflix. I've avoided Mad Men like the plague simply because everyone is always fawning over it (How rebellious of me!) but we got really into it. It's amazing how quickly we flew through 4 seasons! We'd watch an episode or two before bed every night and before I knew it, I knew the entire history of all the characters and I'm eagerly awaiting season 5 in March. I've seen a lot of chatter about Breaking Bad on Twitter lately so we started that a few days ago. We just finished season 1 last night and we're hoping it picks up a bit as some of the episodes are a little slow.

We both really like to find shows that have a ton of episodes/seasons so we can catch up and really get into it. It's hard to commit to a show when it first begins and you have to wait a week for a new episode (We do really like Whitney and Two Broke Girls though!)  We don't get to sit down and enjoy much tv very often, so just squeezing in an episode before bed has become quite the nightly tradition around here. Though I'll admit my all time favorite tv shows are probably Felicity (!!!) + NCIS (Fun fact: We have 181 episodes of NCIS on our DVR. Yowza!)

So my question for all of y'all: Do you have any tv shows you absolutely love? Bonus points if they're on Netflix Instant! (*cue everyone saying Doctor Who!* haha)

Pushing Daisies

I've really been getting into Pushing Daisies on Netflix as of late. I finished Season 1 last night and I'm working my way up on Season 2. I wish it still came on! The styling is spot on and the story line of the Piemaker and dear Chuck is the sweetest thing. There is floral print EVERYWHERE! Wallpaper, bed linens, upholstered furniture! Glorious! Plus Kristin Chenoweth is in it and I just love her! I really wish I could see her and Sean Hayes in Promise, Promises on Broadway before heading back to Tennessee later this week.

Does anyone else watch (or watched in the past) Pushing Daisies? If not, you should give it a try! I'm really loving it thus far! (And someone get me Chuck's wardrobe STAT! I'm in LOVE!)

I promise a proper personal entry tomorrow! My week/weekend has been rather unproductive and unexciting, but I can show you my lovely goodies from the Fred Flare store in Brooklyn and some sweet new 1Aeon digs that I shot in Prospect Park on Friday. :)

Television Faves?

I used to watch very little television in high school because I was so involved in school and sports. I watched very little television throughout college because I was always slaving over projects. During the month of May when I was secluded in a tiny-itsy-bitsy town at my parents' house after the flood, I probably watched more television than in the past 8 years combined. I kid you not. I had nothing else to do! So I'd put on something and let it be in the background while I crafted away! I did grow to love a few favorites over the past few years, and almost never watched it on actual cable. This is where Hulu.com and Netflix came in. All of my tv is watched online. Say hello to the future!

Well, with that being said, I've blown through a few series and now I'm left with nothing to occupy my nights before bed. Lame! My all time favorite, of course, is Dexter. If you haven't watched Dexter, I highly recommend it. Oh my goodness! Best show ever. Mike and I would pile up and watch a handful of episodes at a time. I miss those nights.

After Dexter was over, I reluctantly agreed to start watching Weeds with him because it was one of his all-time faves. Now, it was good in the beginning, but for a little bit it got a little dry. However, the season finale to season 5 was fairly decent. I'll watch season 6 just to see what happens. It kept me interested enough, I guess I should say.

Last night I sorted through the list of tv shows that Netflix recommended me based on my previous views and ratings. It suggested The L Word, which I had never seen. I knew the basis of what it was about (duh) but I couldn't watch season 1 or 2 instantly (bummer bears!) I started with the season premier of season 3 and although I only watched one episode, it was pretty good. I'm going to give it at least 3 episodes to make up my mind.

I've been advised countless times to "Watch True Blood! Watch it! It's so good!" but honestly, I just couldn't get into it. Halfway into the pilot I was bored and over the exaggerated (and terrible) southern accents. (Well, I really think I just took offense to it haha). I've been told, again, countless times, "Just watch True Blood again! It took me a few times but now I'm hooked" but I guess I just don't have it in me yet. So let's forgo the True Blood route all together (I just don't get giddy over vampires, sorry!)

So, my point is, What TV Shows Do You Recommend?! I like drama, romance, romantic comedies, comedies, etc. Maybe I'll just pick back up in the middle of Entourage? Hmm... Help a girl out!
