Recently, I was “chatting” via e-mail with my friend, BJ, who lives in Austin, Texas...you may remember her as RMSHGTV on Rate My Space. BJ doesn't have a blog, but she enjoys seeing the great Tablescape Thursday posts each week. Recently, BJ mentioned she would be hosting a a big birthday bash for two special family members, her brother, Joe Allen and her niece, Marydawn.
When BJ and I last talked, she was in the planning stage and was working on a "theme" or decorating scheme for the party. BJ's niece brilliantly suggested a "fiesta" and BJ loved the idea and ran with it.
I asked her to send some pics so I could see how it all turned out. Fortunately, she did...and oh, what a treat! Can you just imagine being a guest arriving for the fiesta and being greeted by this fun little sign as you entered in through the gate? :-)
BJ had a nice, large group of seventeen friends and family attend this festive birthday dinner. She found the most perfect plates at Pier 1...colorful Fiestaware. BJ used three large tables, side by side, in order to accommodate all the guests. BJ said, "I borrowed the blue tablecloths and napkins from my high school, the 60" tables from my co-worker." It just goes to show, with a little creative thinking, it is possible to have a large party without breaking the budget. What a great idea BJ had in borrowing some of the basic elements she needed.
BJ is incredibly talented at creating beautiful floral arrangements...in fact, she did this gorgeous centerpiece herself! Regarding the lovely container, in which the arrangement was created, BJ told me, "Underneath the floral arrangement was my present to my niece, a Fiesta, cobalt blue compote, which I purchased on eBay. She was ecstatic, as this was her first Fiestaware piece."
BJ lives in a beautiful, wooded area...perfect for entertaining outdoors. Do you remember her wonderful deck on RMS?
I love the contrast of this colorful, open arrangement, against the gray background of the winter forest?! And what's that on the table...another gorgeous arrangement! BJ, are you sure you aren't really a florist by trade; your centerpieces are stunning!
Beautiful...like a breath of spring in the midst of winter!
I hear tell, there was even a pinata...and it wasn't just the youngsters who tried their hand at breaking into the loot! :-) BJ...you know we need some pics of Joe Allen and Marydawn blindfolded and swinging! :-)
Thank you, BJ, for sharing this festive outdoor party with all of us for this Tablescape Thursday! I know your brother and niece feel so very blessed to have you in their lives! :-)
