Rosehill Cottage from "The Holiday" Movie Comes to Life Once More

Hi Everyone! Are you busy, busy, busy preparing for the holidays? Are you making grocery lists, doing last minute shopping and wrapping gifts? I hope you are having fun and enjoying these last minute preparations for family and friends.

Recently, I took you on a tour of wonderful Rosehill Cottage in the movie, The Holiday. If you missed it, you'll find it HERE.

This is a view of Rosehill Cottage as depicted in the movie. We were all so disappointed to discover the cottage was built just for the movie and then torn down afterwards. How could they do that to us?

One very talented artist named Wiel, decided to preserve the memory of Rosehill. He designed and built his own Rosehill Cottage in miniature for he, his wife and the birdies to enjoy. :) Lucky birds!

I've never been jealous of the birds before...but I am now! :)

Wiel built this amazing bird feeder over the space of three weeks. I think it would have taken me a lifetime. I can't even imagine the talent it took to create this amazing replica!

Such beautiful detail! Notice how the center of the roof even sags a little just like Rosehill Cottage did in the movie.

Isn't it absolutely amazing?!

Here's a view of the back and it's just like Rosehill Cottage. It even has the same ancient tree out back. :)

I told Wiel we were all going to want one! I asked if he would ever build them to sell. It was a true labor of love and Wiel said he wasn't ready to make another one, just yet. He wasn't sure he could build another one with quite the same passion.

Here's a photo of Wiel while he was building Rosehill. I think Wiel needs to hire a crew and build these in doll house size. Can you just imagine all the orders he would get? If we can't have Rosehill in reality, wouldn't it be fun to have a miniature version?! :) Okay, I'm just being selfish...but it's just sooo cute!

Wiel and his wife, Kitty depicted his Rosehill Cottage in their Christmas card this year. If you look closely, I think we can just see them peeking out the window in an upstairs room. :)

Wiel, thank you so much for sharing these wonderful photos of your delightful Rosehill Cottage. I'm totally in awe of the talent it took to create this charming miniature version of the cottage that stole all our hearts.
