garage sale find

this is my abe. marcos and myself found this beauty for thirty [yes THIRTY] bucks at a garage sale. marcos spotted it from the roadside while driving by, and we knew that we had to go back.

we immediately turned the car round and headed for this obsolete sale that was happening at a nearby student facility. as we got closer and closer, we fell more and more in love with this huge, gorgeous painting.

a woman had painted this and even stretched her own canvas. it is truly amazing. it is a massive painting that looks absolutely fabulous in our office. it's weird because we had started decorating our office with all things ikea, and this fit in magically.

when we asked the woman how much the painting would cost us, she said that she was moving across the country and it would most likely not make it without receiving damage. so she just wanted it to go to a good home. i was nervous in asking her the price for something as huge as this, had to have taken a lot of time, thus causing the price to go up.

when the words 'thirty dollars' rang from her mouth and into my ear drum, i almost died. we knew that we had to have this painting. there was another that caught our eye, and being a garage sale, we decided to make an offer for the 2 paintings. we purchased both paintings [the other being a large 1/2 painting 1/2 sculpting beauty of a tree] for a total of $50.00 USD.

so we packed that huge monstrosity of a painting into the back of our little nissan murano [which by the way, barely fit]. this was exactly what we needed in our office and a nice starter piece for the bedroom. we were so lucky on this garage sale adventure.

does anyone have any fun stories about any garage sale, swap meet or flea market experiences they've had? do tell...
