after seeing this post over at ohjoy, i remembered that the best holiday of the year is coming up. i am so excited for valentines day. these pictures were just so pretty with all of the pinks and reds. ban.do. always has adorable things! this shoot was just too good not to talk about... enjoy!

Lace Love ♥

Loving these lace shorts for a sunny summer day! And how cute to think of adding a pair of polka dotted tights to the mix. Adorable. And I am loving the knuckle ring. Gorgeous. ♥

I am so excited for summer to come. I want to travel back to CA where I fell in love with the ocean for the first time this past year! I'm needing a vacation, can't you tell? Hopefully I'll have something cute to sport in the California Summer Sun!!

Bat Mitzvah with a night club feel! Mia's Pink, Orange Polka Dot Bash!

According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach the age of 13 years for boys and 12 for girls they become responsible for their actions, and "become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah" (English: Son (Bar) or Daughter (Bat) of the commandments). In many Conservative and Reform synagogues, girls celebrate their Bat Mitzvahs at age 13, along with boys. Prior to this, the child's parents hold the responsibility for the child's adherence to Jewish law and tradition and, after this age, children bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics and are privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life.

When Mia and her family discussed the special day they knew that they wanted it to take place at the camp that Mia's family owns and runs on a lake in Maine. They wanted to make it a weekend event ending with a dinner in the Camp's dining hall. When asked what she wanted for her special night, she said she wanted a nightclub feeling. When I think of a thirteen year old's dream nightclub, I envision lots of lounge seating and lighting. I pick a color palette of bright pinks and oranges, and polka dots. My inspiration was my Izze Soda Label. I am bringing in a lighting designer to cover the ceiling with pink and orange paper lanterns, and have Mia's initials in gobo lighting on the dance floor. There will be lots of lounge seating accented with polka dot pillows. The round tables will be covered with bright linens and the centerpieces will be cakes with polka dot themes. Escort cards will be Izze drinks in pink and orange. The Menu is being created by my favorite guys at Course Catering. We are going for a traditional tapas meal with a few unique and fun dessert stations. One station to celebrate "camp" with S'mores, a celebration of Florida, where Mia and her family live "off season", with a sundae station and a secret station to celebrate the Night club Feel...

For Sasha~ Inspiration Board #1

Sasha is the bride that wedding planner/designers dream of. She know what she likes but trusts my design capabilities. When I met her in Portland, we began to discuss her vision and her family and friends. I knew instantly that the perfect venue for her fall wedding was the Asticou Inn. The Asticou is one of my favorite venues. Their service and staff are impeccable and their view is breathtaking. It is perfect for city and country folk alike with shopping, restaurants and Acadia National Park five minutes away.

Mount Desert Island is a great location for a destination wedding.

As I talked to Sasha I knew her style screamed a vintage, elegant, tented wedding.

When I showed her a picture of a Sperry Tent, she fell in love as well. These tents create an empty canvas where any design will pop!! When talking about colors she talked about soft pastels, but didn't seem sold on it. As I pushed her further and asked her what flowers she was drawn to she said dahlias. Bold and unique flowers, I decided to do bold colors with a deep plum as the base color, using orange, yellow, pink, and reds in vintage vases and tins to make the colors pop. This is only a suggestion as we are still looking for dresses, etc. However, I wanted to show Sasha how her wedding could be unique, bold without being over the top. Hope you like it!!!

I am calling this Inspiration Board #1. Let's see what Sasha likes and what she wants to tweak. Designing is a continuous process of change until we find a design that grab the essence of the bride and groom
