Hooray for Mail!

A few things I've recieved over the past couple of days! I just received all of my postcards from NYC in a box of stuff I shipped here so I will postcards out to all of y'all who have sent them to me in a few days! As for return packages, I'm working on them but most will probably go out next week! You guys are the best!

A lovely goodie basket from Emily! (I'm eating the sucker right now! Strawberry + Creme is my FAVORITE! Check out that adorable shark sand animal! Eep!

An owl painting from Ali Spagnola! Check out Ali's site! She does a painting a day and gives it away to a new home! I waited a hot minute for mine but I was thrilled when it finally arrived! You can take a peek at the other ones she does, too!

A lot of postcards and 11 Urban Outfitters giftcards via Shop It To Me!

An amazing package from Laura C! The playlist is FANTASTIC! It's Tennessee themed for the most part, but I'm thinking I should share it with y'all because you'll probably love it even if you've never been to TN!

and the sweetest thing ever... After Mike left for work, I opened my computer and found this:

I feel so blessed to have so many amazing people in my life!

Package Update!

I totally forgot to update about some lovely little packages I received in the mail a few weeks ago! I've since received a few more but I packed them up before taking photos! (I'm sorry, senders!) BUT I've loved everything thus far and everyone had a little something dropped in the mail for them yesterday morning! It's not much, but I'm hoping you like what I sent! NYC is so expensive and everything is so touristy! Not really my cup o' tea but I promise fun things from Tennessee!

If you'd like to be penpals, just let me know! You can postcards, letters, packages, etc to:

Kaelah
649 Thomas Avenue
Hohenwald, TN 38462
USA

I will have a new address in a few weeks (as per usual) but I can receive mail at the above one at any time (it just might take a hot minute to get after I move from there again around August 1st!). But rather than post my physical address at our new home, I'm going to probably get another PO Box :) Don't worry though, I can receive everything you send, but please do not send anything else to my NYC address. I'm afraid I won't get it before I move!

I always respond, it just might take me a minute or two! :P (I try to reciprocate the same type of things sent to me!) Anywhoo, a few of the lovely things in the mail were from Marla Grace, Gee, and my friend Shannon!

I sent off fourteen packages yesterday! I hope they all make it safely! Several were going overseas so I hope they don't take a lifetime to get there!

Wish You Were Here! Postcard Swap!

Hello hello! So this is the post I was referring to in my last one when I said I had a fun little project that I hoped to get people excited about. My 'Wish You Were Here' Project! Right now I'm only doing it for myself but if others wanted to get in on a mega-swap, I'm sure we could make it happen! Basically the jist is this: Mike and I are obviously moving into a new place in the next few weeks and we don't have any furniture or any decorations, but I was thinking about thrifting some coffee/side tables, cool frames, etc, and then doing collages on them and sealing them with polyurethane so I could have my own custom collage table! Well, I don't know how easy that is to do, but regardless, I thought it'd be cool to decorate with postcards and such from all around the world! I was thinking this could be a great way to decorate on the cheap, but still have TONS of personality!

The idea is simple: You send me a postcard... it can be from anywhere in the world. A town, a state, a country... whatever! You can write on the back if you'd like, but leave the front unobstructed. I will, in turn, send you one back if you'd like! (Just make sure there's a return address on it and I'll pop one in the mail to you!). It's similar to my penpal thing, but you don't have to write anything if you don't want to! Just zip a postcard to me in the mail and I'm going to try to decorate in different ways with them!

Of course if I come up with anything super cool I'll definitely post it here (and a tutorial too!) I was sad when the flood hit because I had a growing collection of magnets from all the countries I had been to (silly, I know.. but it was something I made a tradition with every country) so I lost them all. My friend Kayce has this awesome map of the US on her fridge as she has one of those little state magnets from each state and they're put in their respective places (so I was insanely inspired by that and I want my own one day, too!) But I know magnets can be costly so we can stick to postcards if you'd like! I'd love to hear some of your favorite things about the city/state/country that you send me, too! There will definitely be a lot of traveling in my future so maybe I'll be inspired by one of your cards and come visit!

Anywhoo, if you're interested, just let me know! You can start sending postcards at any time to:

Kaelah Bee
649 Thomas Avenue
Hohenwald, TN
38462
USA

Please don't send them to my NYC address unless you KNOW they will get here before the 22nd of July! I will be leaving and anything sent to this address afterwards will be lost forever! Oh noezzz! If you send it to Hohenwald, I'll get a weekly list of your names/addresses to mail out to! I'll have a new address (yet again!) in a few weeks so I'll update everything then!

Don't be worried about having the same city/state/country as someone else! There are tons of postcards out there and even if I received the same one twice, I could easily use it for two different projects! Now send away! I'm loadddddeddddd on NYC postcards! (Seriously... I have well over 100 right now...)

What are your thoughts on this? Interested? Think it's dumb? Let a girl know!

xoxo

PS; Would you want to be involved in a mega swap? I'll have to figure out how to organize it but it could be a great way for you to meet new people, too!

PenPal Surprises!

I was the lucky recipient of two very adorable packages last night upon my arrival home from the gym. Both were from Germany! How fun! The first one was from Mariam! And the second was from Kati K! AND I received an adorable little letter from Laura C., with one of those Silly Bandz! (It was a shark!) She's a day camp counselor and one her kids offered her one so when she saw the shark she said she thought of me! I always thought they were so silly (obvz!) and didn't get the appeal but I'm proudly sporting my little green band on my wrist! It's so funny how many people (older people!) I see wearing them now! Crazy! Thanks Laura! I'll be writing back soon! ♥

The packages were just lovely! Here are a few photos of the one Mariam sent me! Thanks girl!

The candles made the package smell so lovely! I'm technically not allowed to burn candles in my apartment but I'll keep them around for when I move back home! The little bulldog things were so so so adorable and made me miss my sweet Baby G so much! The card was so cute and lovely and I can't wait to listen to the mix!

Then I opened the package from Kati! Confetti exploded everywhere! You know it's going to be a good package when you're greeted with a large assortment of sweet little paper circles!

Her package was complete with some German candies (which I haven't had in 2 years! Takes me back to my time spent in Germany! So great!), a wonderful collage and letter, little bits and bobs and the most adorable duo of shark keychains! My favorite! (Now my apartment keys are one THREE shark keychains! Love!) Thanks Kati! It was so so great!

I will be working the next few days on packing up some lovely little doo-dads for Hannah J, Mariam, Kati and Laura! If you're eager to be a penpal, don't hesitate! You can find my address on the left-sidebar or you can email me at any time! kaelahbee (at) gmail (dot) com! I'll reply to anyone ♥

Back to work!

What a Wednesday!

Today was a lazy (but productive... craft wise!) day. I woke up and immediately started making fabric roses. Why? Why not! I've got some wonderful ideas in mind for these little things! I made 15 of them today (and boy are my fingers hurting!) and I made 8 the other night. I also made some organza flowers, but they didnt turn out exactly as cool. I made a run to WalMart and then back to the crafting. So lame! haha

I received some penpal packages, too! I received an adorable card, and a package from Stacey.. the package was so great! So spot on! She really gets me :P It had a cute floral apron, an anchor pin, a sweet pink bow ring, sunflower mini-pot, a shark magnet (!!!!!), a cute little heart shaped chew toy for georgia, gorgeous colored nail polish, an adorable floral pattern make-up-ish bag and a sweet note! She's the best! Then I received a huge box from Caitlin! She sent me some adorable fabrics, a thirfted dress, and some of the cutest jewelry ever (and a sweet card!) You guys really spoil me and it means so so so SO much, especially knowing where your hearts are at with it. I've started to rebuild my fabric and craft collection since I was so devastated to lose it.

Seriously! Thank you so much, guys! I will have packages out to everyone by the end of the week I hope! (Including Stacey, Caitlin, Aoife, Hannah, Susannah, etc!) Sorry for the delay, but I got my sewing machine fixed so I wanted to send everyone something handmade!

I made vegan sloppy joes for dinner as Mike got home and we just settled in and watched tv for most of the night (I made more floral roses, too). Tomorrow I have to be in Franklin at 11am for the FEMA inspector to come by what used to be my house and determine what kind of federal aid I'll be receiving (Lord knows it'd be heavensent at this point!). Also, I have to lug Baby G with me as her hairloss as gotten even more severe and she spent the entire day throwing up and having diarrhea (gross, i know!) but she's my baby and I need to take care of her. We're really really starting to worry. Keep your fingers crossed everything goes well! I'm sure they'll run some tests on her tomorrow.

The clock is ticking for my move to NYC. Just two weeks! I need to acquire and pack so much! This weekend is my last weekend at work (huzzah!) and we have Toby (double huzzah!) so I'm excited.

Earlier this week (Monday) I was going to do a "A Day in My Life" style post but of course I left my Nikon battery at home. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow? Not that anything exciting really happens but it'll push me to actually get dressed and to DO something with myself. It'll be a lot of driving and such tomorrow anyhow, but still! We'll see!

I hope you're all having a glorious week thus far! Thanks for being awesome blog readers!

xoxo

PS; My blog turns 1 year old on Sunday! And I'm so close to having 600 followers (holy cow! Never thought I'd say that!) In light of that, I'm going to post a little giveaway! So stay tuned! And send people over! The quicker that ticker hits 600, the quicker it'll happen!

Friday Friday!

Today was nice because Mike didn't have to be at work in Brentwood until 1pm, which means he didn't have to leave Hohenwald until 11:15am. We were able to sleep in a little bit (10am) and hang out before he left. It seems like our time recently has been cut short because he works so much and the commute is so long. But anywhoo, today was also my mother's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!

I cleaned around the house a bit and finished up some cards and packages for my penpals. I set out for the post office and mailed at least 10 things, so if you've sent me anything, be on the lookout! I received an adorable postcard from Rennie, a sweet Bulldog card from Cecily, a sweet Canadian card from Jane C, and I also received a card with the most generous gift inside from Caitlin M's parents in Ohio. The card was so so generous and so incredibly thoughtful, I cried upon opening it. I read it aloud and my mom cried, too. I cannot begin to express my sincere gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. McCormick.

Today I received a package from SusannahBean and it was the most adorable thing ever! Inside was a pack of smoothie jelly belly jelly beans, a gorgeous handmade yo-yo headband (which I planned my entire outfit around), a handmade bracelet (which I'm currently wearing), a mixtape cd, a card, and some color swatches. I can't wait to listen to the cd on the way to work tonight. If you have time, pop over to her ETSY and check out her stuff! The headbands are suchhhh fantastic quality and I'll definitely be buying some! I love them SO much!

(I have more photos of all of these wonderful things, but unfortunately my iPhone doesn't want to send them to my computer! If nothing else, I can post them tomorrow!)

After the post office, I picked up Mom 3 Gerber Daisy plants, a gift card, and a birthday card. She's already planted them in the front yard!

Tonight I went with my mother and stepdad to dinner at Junk Yard Dog steakhouse. Not the most fantastic place for a veg to eat but I made do. We talked about the drive to NYC and it appears we shall be departing Tennessee on Friday, June 4th and we'll arrive either Friday night or Saturday. We may swing by Asheville, NC on the way! They just left for birthday festivities and I'm sitting with a towel on my head as I get ready for work. I have to leave so soon but I refuse to rush.

Mike gets off at 9:30pm and he's going to drive down to my bar while I work. Then we'll come home, sleep, and try to enjoy a low-key day for his only day off.

So sorry for the lack of photos! I know how boring text-only posts are! haha

Oh, Maggie told me about a super cute website where you can get the most adorable wallets and such! You should pop on over to Fluff Shop and check it out (I LOVE the one she got!)!
