The Bright Bunch

I'm kind of in love with this Tulle dress. It's bright vintage-inspired print is exactly what this gloomy overcast day needed. I paired it with a camel colored ruffle cardigan and I pinned a vintage enamel clip-on earring to the collar like a brooch. Like a match made in heaven! Burgundy tights kept me warm and added even more color to the outfit. The olive shoes were a last minute touch but I thought it gave it a nice balance of warm and bright. (The shoes are up for grabs in Kaelah's Closet. This was the only time I had worn them but they don't fit me all that great. Womp womp womp! There's a matching yellow pair too!) I snagged this bag during a PLNDR sale a few weeks ago! 

I'm also wearing my new favorite plugs! I ordered these from Omerica Organic a couple of weeks ago and they're perfect! Giant buttons in your ears = a definite conversation starter. I had been scouring the site for months trying to find the perfect new plugs but many of their plugs you have to special request them to be made in my size (1.5"). Luckily these buttons came standard in my size so now they're mine all mine! (You can get 20% off of your Omerica order with the code KAELAH btw! They make awesome presents!) I really want the octopus, anchor, and origami crane!

Currently I'm trying to avoid the seasonal funk everyone seems to go into this time of year. It's gotten me a few times but I'm happy to be eyeball deep in work right now! Knocking things off of my to-do list is one of best feelings ever. I also cut several inches off of my extensions here and I'm trying to go as long as possible between color touch-ups on my hair (you'll have to deal with the cruddy color + roots for a bit!). Wedding plans have been consuming my mind lately so I want to make sure my hair is long and in great condition when October rolls around!

The Hot Dog Dress

I have never really been one to wear bold colors. I love my pastels and my neutrals, though my colorful tattoos may make you think otherwise. I typically stay in the Easter-hue arena when it comes to color. But this dress... oh this dress. I've kind of had my eye on it for months (and months and months and months!) I was scared to order it because I hate ordering clothes online being that I'm so strangely shaped. I have a small chest/torso, but as soon as we get south of my waist it's like BUH-BAM! HIPZ! BOOTY! haha I'm also really short (5'2 for those of you asking lately!) so length is a big issue. But I got this dress in the mail and oh my stars, it fit like a glove. Not only is the quality stellar, but the silhouette is perfect for my body. And it has hot dogs on it. Yep. Hot dogs. Right across my chest. OH! And it has pockets. Maybe to put hot dogs in on the go? I don't know, you decide. Handy dandy hot dog dress. (Yes, there's also popcorn and milkshakes and even french fries, but the hot dog takes the cake. Heh!)

I love the half-tone/comic book print of the dress and I've been wearing it like mad. I wore it to both the Jack's Mannequin and Mat Kearney shows last week (Tuesday and Thursday. Yep, outfit repeater). I love finding pieces of clothing that you want to wear over and over and over again. 

I thought the bold graphic would be perfectly fitting for my Betsey Johnson French Bulldog ring I ordered a few months ago. I ordered it because it looks EXACTLY like Pipkin. Now I have a Pipkin wherever I go! We shot these photos down from our house (we're actually finding a bunch of awesome backdrops within a block or two of our loft!) and we finished right when it started to rain. Perfecto! I did however opt to wear bright red lipstick at night. Vamp it up a bit!

I think every girl should own a hot dog dress. Just sayin'.

Happy Frocktober!

ModCloth asked a group of bloggers to take part in their Frocktober event and I'm happy to be included! Each of us received ModCloth's new Frocktober dress to style up in our own fashion to help spread the word. In case you're not familiar (Unless you're from Australia you might be like "WTF mate?" Bonus points if you know that reference!), Frocktober is an organization created by some twenty-and-thirty something gals who want to help spread awareness for ovarian cancer. Frocktober hails from Australia but that doesn't mean girls (and guys!) worldwide shouldn't be up to date on detection and prevention. Check out the information below to see how you can get involved!

Just a heads up, the Frocktober dress just launched on ModCloth's site today and 20% of the sales from each and every ones goes straight to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) of Australia! 

Purpose: Frocktober is all about wearing dresses during the month of October to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research. Currently, there is no appropriate early detection test for ovarian cancer. Frocktober supports the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation in Australia in the search for an appropriate screening test, with the ultimate aim to improve outcomes for patients and their families. 

How to get involved: Visit the website www.Frocktober.org, click 'Start fundraising' and follow the prompts.

If you're curious what the dress is like in real life: it's heavy! Like, the super-nice-quality heavy that is perfect for Autumh/Winter. It's comfortable by itself but I can just imagine layering it up for the cold weather! I can't wait! And the color... *swoon!*. I decided to keep my styling super minimal and easy. Black tights, black ruffle heels and pops of ivory! I honestly sort of felt like a superhero in the dress! The big heart on the front like my symbol, and no solid superhero is without tights (except maybe Wonder Woman!). How would you style this dress?

Ideas for Ways to Raise:   

There are many ways to raise, and how you adopt the Frocktober challenge is up to you! Here are some of our favourite frocking fundraising activities: 

•         Don a frock all month, half of it, or even a week and get sponsored for it! This is the original Frocktober challenge. So original that it's almost retro.   

•         Blog about it! Blog about your frockscapades to the WWW. Photograph your frockin’ efforts, show them off to the world and get sponsored for it!  

•         Morning/afternoon teas; nothing’s better than a decadent cup of tea in your favourite frock. Call your frockish friends; turn the kettle on, put out some dollar-dazzling slice and your event is complete!  

•         Challenge your mates. How about your school buddy who has worn only pants since 1997, or your male friend who can't say no to a dare? Put your money on the table until they get a frock on.  

•         Frock Friday Tell your colleagues to get involved and book out a Friday to have some frivolously frocky fun at work. Ask your office manager to organise the party pies and beers for 5ish!  

•         Frock swap! Organise a clothing swap with your friends – there are sure to be some hidden diamonds in your wardrobes. How resourceful! How quaint! How Frocktober! 

How you get involved is up to you – just remember that it’s all for a frocking good cause: Raising funds & awareness for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation in Australia.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

I broke out the trusty Style Oasis blazer from ModCloth yesterday! It'd been a while since I had worn it, and to be honest, I wasn't too stoked on how I styled it up the first time. I think I'm just not crazy for that white dress. Actually, it was that headband. It didn't even match, but I digress. I'm much more into this styling. I'm smitten with this sweet purple dress (another from Ross. So sue me!). The ruffles at the bust art just darling! It's the sister dress to this yellow one here! 

Isn't this blazer just something else!? I am in love with it. It's lightweight enough to wear in the summer without totally dying. That's a must in Tennessee! It's hitting 100 degrees here now! It's not even so much that it's hot... but it's humid! It's sticky and gross and boy oh boy I can't wait to get to my parents' pool on Monday morning! We had plans to go down tomorrow but Mike is going to be an assistant photog at a wedding tomorrow. (Speaking of which, replies to those emails coming soon!)

Work last night was a total bust. It was so dead. It kind of terrifies me because I'm not in a position to lose that job. I've been there for five years now and the summers are just awful. I tend to get cut after about 3 hours (if that) and I spend an hour driving each way. Some nights it's bank, and some nights I don't even cover my gas down there. Yikes!

70's Lady

Even in light of recent computer woes, my new iMac and I are getting along rather nicely. Still trying to work out in the kinks with Apple and MacAuthority to have my 250gb harddrive replaced in my MacBook Pro (Apple will only cover 160gb of it but hopefully MA will help me out!). I had a mini-breakdown yesterday about everything I lost but I pulled myself together and I'm making the most of it! I hate to be such a sap! Anyway- I'm ready to be posting some outfit photos from last week. It's good timing too because the weather in Nashville is such crap right now (Well, I love thunderstorms, but they're not very conducive to my blog. Neither is Mike's work schedule. sigh) 

I wore this outfit out and about this weekend when Mike and I decided to head out for Mexican food. Las Palmas is a little mexican restaurant down Charlotte Pike and we were thoroughly impressed. They claim to have the best margaritas in town but I'm not much for those! 

The dress was sent to me by ModCloth and I am in love! The print, fit, silhouette and length are perfect! So many dresses now are booty skimmers (and I stand tall at a staggering 5'2!) so when I opened this to see that it was of decent length to wear sans tights, I was elated. (And I really don't like to not wear tights. Yow!) Peep them pasty white legs! (You can also see a little mosquito giving me a big ol bite in one of them! Okay, enough parentheses!) Paired with my cork platforms, this is totally a 70's style number.  The shoes are my Blowfish faves and I opted to go a rather controversial route with the lacy socks. I know oh so many are against the 90's childhood throwback but I wanted to try. And to be honest, I kind of like it. But hey, that's just me!

I wish the weather would cooperate with me a bit. I have so many errands to run today and the rain really isn't helping matters much! Either way, off I go! xo

I've been holding onto this fun and exciting news for several weeks now, and I'm so so so thrilled I can finally share with you all! This little blog (and I) have been chosen as ModCloth's newest Blogger of the Moment! It's truly an exciting honor as some of my very very favorite ladies have donned the title themselves, and to think that LCH has come that far is astounding! 

It all started with a little floral dress, a black cardigan, black tights and black bow flats! It was my staple wardrobe of choice for quite a while, and because of y'all I branched out! First it was a different color cardigan (ha!), then colored tights, and finally... against everything I had ever believed... I opted for some funky shoes! Now my obsession continues. While dresses, cardigans, tights and flats may be my staple, I'm so glad that my style has evolved into something a little more versatile. While you still won't find me wearing jeans, I'm in love with giant platforms, wedges, and funky booties. 

Little Chief Honeybee certainly wouldn't be the blog that it is without all of you! You're my number one source of inspiration and I'm tickled to share this with you!

My namesake dress is the cutest little thing in my opinion (of course I'm biased!) but I think it truly shows my style. Florals, two toned dresses and pearly buttons galore! Wanted: Exec. Director of Pretty Petals

I know what you're thinking.... "Really Kaelah? Eleven pictures? Was that necessary?" and my answer: "Absolutely!" I'm sort of in love with our building. Everything about our new home has me beaming with pure joy! From the rough and worn exterior to the industrious look and feel on the inside. There is so much character in our new home! We've only had two sets of pals over to see it thus far. Neither our parents nor any neighbors have seen our place (There was the 2 Comcast fellas, but they don't count!). We're relishing in the "new home" feel and trying to make it a relaxing, yet inspiring, place. Truth be told, I can't wait to show any and everyone. We're so proud of how much heart (and elbow grease!) we've put into our little sanctuary!

Today's weather is rather hum drum. There's a storm a'brewin and I'm ecstatic. Though it looks like the fun portion will miss us, I'm enjoying the wind whipping through the trees outside our window. Since we do live in such an industrious place, we're afraid that the heating and cooling may be slightly spendy, so we opted to buy a one of those chic tower fans yesterday. Well, the truth is they were sold out of everything else so that's what we had to get haha. We're going to take advantage of open windows for as long as possible!

This blazer is pretty bananas, don't you think?! I'm in love! ModCloth sent it my way and I am head over heels for it! I'm planning on having it custom tailored so it fits my body just perfectly! It's so comfortable and it's the perfect lightweight piece for a windy day in Nashville! It's so loud so I opted to wear it with a solid white dress and then I took a cue from the pretty pale purple petals (Say that five times fast!) and went for some loud tights, too! I finished it off with my ultra comfy and fall back shoes, my trusty black flats! The woven and knotted belt is another new favorite of mine, and my thirfted little chain bag. This outfit felt very Lolita-esque once I looked at myself in the mirror. White doll-like dress, curly bright hair and Crayola-worthy tights? Hey, why not! I can't wait to style this blazer with my normal dark brown, wavy mess of a 'do!

The blog title is set like a job posting and it's definitely been a little dream of mine to work at a florist shop or something equally as quaint after college just for part time fun. I'd love to be in a beautiful atmosphere and after years of working in the computer, I just want to get my hands dirty. I've been perusing Craigslist and the like for small job opportunities just to get me out of the house a few hours a week. I toyed with the idea of getting a full time design job and then I snapped back to reality. Silly! (If you know of any fun places like sweet floral shops or even small boutiques looking for hires in Nashville, let a girl know! I'd like to learn hands on how to run an independent business!)

Well, we're off to see what we can get into! We desperately need to be productive today! It's just so hard!

PPS; Every now and then I forget I'm wearing a very special ring so when I see it pop up in outfit photos I do an internal-squeal and remember that I'm engaged to a truly wonderful person! Ah! I'm on cloud 9, even still!
