Shop Hive + Honey for Small Biz Saturday!

After a nice little hiatus so we could focus our efforts on Honeybean, Hive + Honey on Etsy is reopen! We stocked it full of fascinators, bows and barrettes, and you can get your hands on them while saving 15% with the code SMALLBIZ! Brace yourselves, Honeybean's online shoppe just might be open for Cyber Monday! ;) CLICK HERE to shop Hive + Honey handmade hair pieces! (With lower prices, too!)

It's important to remember the small businesses that are putting their lives on the line by opening up shop this year. The economy isn't in the best state and we could all help by contributing to the little guys! Mike and I have decided that all gifts this year will be handmade and/or from independent shops. I'm excited to see what we come up with! xo

PS; The coupon code is already live, so feel free to shop away! You don't have to wait until midnight! ;)

hive+honey shoppe is now open!

I am so so very excited to announce that the hive+honey shoppe is now open for business! I launched a little bit early with 28 pieces up for grabs! We shot a total of 91 today, with bows to be done tomorrow! I'll add some more in a few days so snag up something pretty if you see what you like!

Thank you all so very much for giving me the courage to make my little bitty business a possibility! You are all so kind and encouraging! You're exactly the kind of ladies I'd love to see sporting a fascinator from my little shoppe!

Click HERE if you'd like to check out the shoppe so far!

hive+honey Poll!

Hey honeybees! I whipped up a few different designs for the fascinators that will go live in the shop shortly! This definitely isn't all of them but I thought it might be a good call to post a few up and get some feedback! If you follow me on Twitter/Tumblr/Instagram then you may have seen some photos yesterday! But I decided to take some color-correct photos and open it up for everyone to share the ones they like best! That way I know which ones to make plenty of so that you all get to snag up your faves!

The ball is rolling quickly on this one so I'm hoping to keep up with the pace! Hopefully I'll have some news early next week!

SO! Let me know your favorites! There are cotton, chiffon, satin, denim, etc! Plenty of awesome fabrics and textiles to choose from! xo

Crochet Headbands by SusannahBean!

Well, we're snowed in. Snowed in in Tennessee means an inch or two of snow and some ice here and there. Our whole parking lot is iced over and it's enough to keep us inside. Okay, well, that and the fact that Mike has taken sick all over again. Apparently last week when I had the crud full throttle, he only had a teensy bit of it. He started getting pretty sickly last night and now he's just a mess of a guy on the couch doped up on Nyquil. He's slept all day basically. Anyway, we couldn't get out of the driveway this morning so he didn't go to work. We [read: I] have been watching Grey's Anatomy and National Geographic all day. This is all filler information really but the point: it's cold. It's very very cold. And the girls still need to go outside so I've been keeping my ears warm with these lovelies from SusannahBean!

These photos were taken last weekend so excuse my wonky eye. I had a pretty ginormous stye on my eye for the better part of the week and it shows ;P

Susannah sent me one of her Bloom and Clara Bow headband/earwarmers and I've been wearing them with everything! They're so practical and functional and just oh so sweet. And at $16, you can't beat them. Plus they come in like every color ever so I suggest you sneak on over and grab up a few of your own! [They're sort of hard to see in the pictures because black just soaks up light, but the Clara is a chunky bow and the Bloom is a cute little flower!]

They're expertly made and the perfect size. They keep my ears nice and toasty while I'm running after the two pups in the snow. I think they'd make the most fantastic stocking stuffers or Secret Santa gifts. Who wouldn't love a sweet little handmade goodie?!

You can visit Susannah's shop and check out her selection of crotched items by clicking here or you can drop by her blog and say hello by clicking here! Hooray!

Currently Coveting: Raw Amethyst Jewelry

I've never really been a jewelry person. I blame my tom-boy roots and my abundant tattoos [I mean, they kind of stick out on their own! No need to tacky it up!]. I steer clear of necklaces because I feel like they don't play we ll with my chest piece, and I loathe bracelets, and I can't wear "regular" earrings.. sheesh! I do love rings though. Sort of. Sometimes. Whatever... The point is: I don't wear jewelry. But... I have been fawning over the most amazing raw amethyst cluster jewelry on Etsy lately! There is something undeniably  beautiful, yet edgy, about all of that rough stone and the whimsical purple. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way because I've seen gorgeous photos floating around the blogosphere as of late. Maybe I'm subject to peer influence, but whatever the cause, I like it and I want some! Here are a few favorites I found while perusing Etsy!

These would undoubtedly make a lovely gift for any lady in your life! [*hint hint*] All of the items below were handpicked by yours truly based on aesthetic quality and affordability. Be sure to visit the shops linked because you will die at some of the goodies up for grabs!

Re-Opening the Etsy!

I have decided to reopen the Etsy shop once more! I had planned on leaving it on "vacation mode" until I got all of the new items and inventory made and stocked up, but then I realized nothing would motivate me more than having it already out there in the open and going! So right now it is solely handmade accessories but I will be stocking it with lots of owl stuff, vintage cameras, Polaroids, handmade prints, cards, and little treasures!

As for the handmade accessories... don't let the current color or fabric combinations fool you! I can do any and all custom orders and pairings! Like the duo-rose headbands but don't care for the colors or fabrics? Convo me and I can show you the stocks of fabric I have and we can choose the right color and fabric combo for you! Don't like how big some of the headbands are? Convo me and we'll make them smaller! Like this rose but with that chain? We can do that too!

I'll be having a giveaway soon! Of my stuff! I haven't hosted my OWN giveaway since like 400 followers! How crazy! I'm even thinking about making those aprons I made back in December for the shop! Who knows! We won't get too ahead of ourselves but I hope you take a moment to check out the shop and pick up an item or two!

By the way, a quick hello to any and everyone visiting from Elsie, Elizabeth, Elycia, or Janel's blog this month! You're all welcome here!

I'm slowly but surely getting over my sickness! I stayed home from class/field trip today so that I didn't get any worse. I cannot miss class tomorrow or I'll be in big trouble! Plus I'm getting tattooed tomorrow evening so I don't want to be super sick during it! Eep!

New Etsy Update!

Since all of my Etsy inventory was ruined thanks to the flood, and Georgia has to have her third eye surgery (this time it's a double-eye surgery!), I've decided to craft my way through it :) I've made some floral rose barrettes, brooches and headbands, along with lace bows and things of that nature. I've priced them all very modestly (at least I think so) so hopefully some people would be interested in buying some. Georgia's surgery is not going to be cheap, so 100% of the proceeds will go directly to that. Her vet appointment is tomorrow so we will schedule it then and find out the damage. The most important thing to me is that she's happy and healthy.

Her surgery is due to the fact her eyelids are rolling in as she grows, thus causing her hair to scratch her corneas. This happens to a lot of dogs so I'm sure the surgery will go smoothly.

I will be taking my craft supplies with me to NYC so I'll be able to keep up with it while there as well. Any and all support would be more than amazing. She's my little sweet pea so this is all for her. I hope you enjoy the update!

There are 30 new items to choose from. I am happy to do custom orders, both in quantity and look. Any fabric you see can be paired with any other for a double or triple headband, as well as any kind of brooch and barrette.

PS; Karlie is selling some of her clothes. Check out her stuff and see if you're interested!

PPS; Thanks for the sweet responses to my video tutorial! A lot of people have asked me to make more videos so please suggest things you'd like to see! I'm bad at coming up with stuff. Someone in my FormSpring asked me to do a relationship advice/positivity video, so if you have anything you'd like to ask or add, please leave it in a comment below or head over to my FormSpring! Feel free to suggest anything! xoxo

More about TOMS. One for One.

"TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we're all about. The TOMS One for One business model transforms our customers into benefactors, which allows us to grow a truly sustainable business rather than depending on fundraising for support."

Add these cute accessories to your closet. The cutest shoes for summer!

bee's first day back at school.

yesterday mike and i slept in and i woke up about an hour and a half before he did. he woke up very very sickly so i felt so sorry for him. i hate to be sick myself, and believe me, when i am.... i dont make it easy on anyone. not that i MEAN to be a difficult sickie, but i guess thats just my nature. i like to be babied and i manage to whine a lot... luckily he's much better about this. i made him stay in bed and i went thrifting for a bit. i headed back home after not too long [but i was NOT short on any sweet finds!] and spent the rest of the day with him. we managed to get him out of bed for a short time to run to JoAnn's and WalMart. We grabbed a RedBox movie [for free! I LOVE my RedBox iPhone App! $1 saved is $1 saved!] and headed home. We made veggie burgers for dinner and I spent hours crafting silly little antique lace bow headbands with tulle and netting. After a bit we crawled into bed to watch our movie [Bruno... which i DO NOT recommend to anyone.. it was SO vulgar! i had heard things but i was not prepared for that. ugh]. It was horrible. then we fell asleep.

This is what I wore yesterday... I was bumming it... look at that gross hair! ugh!

Outfit Details:
Dress: TJ Maxx [$15]
Vest: Urban Outfitters - Urban Renewal [$10 clearance!]
Tights: Charlotte Russe [$10]
Boots: Wet Seal [$15 clearance!]
Belt: Thrifted
Blazer: Thrifted [Adding to my Etsy soon!]

I sat my alarm for 9am to start the semester off right [I didnt have class until 1pm but I had a TOMS Style Your Sole meeting to attend at 11:30] and i overslept... as per usual. I rolled out of bed at 11am. guh! I had waffles for breakfast and after getting dressed I headed to campus.

I managed to drop a class [Corporate Design, yuck!] and pay my tuition [or so I thought... luckily I had a full ride yet again this semester! woot!]. I turned in my BUST internship evaluation and headed to my class. Today was Print Design 2. So many awesome familiar faces. But thats my school haha With 200 students in the entire college, you have all your classes with the exact same people. Luckily that includes Katie, Jordan, Caitlin, Kayla, Chris and 2 new ladies. One of the girls, Savannah, is apparently dating Mike's good friend Adam. She introduced herself and so that was a nice little surprise. The teacher seems really great. He's very very friendly and after going over our syllabus I'm happy to say I'm very much looking forward to this class. I do love Print so that always helps. [The first project is a How-To Manual... but I have NO idea what I want to do it over! Any ideas?!] Hmm.. well the class dismissed very early, in typical first-week fashion. I headed home to greet my sickly beau and before too long he wanted out of the house. We went to Hobby Lobby where I stocked up on crafty goodies, and then we went to WalMart real quick. We got home and he pretty much passed out so I uploaded TONS of new things to MY ETSY, took a bubble bath, poked around on the internetz, and then i started to make pasta for dinner. He woke up from his few-hour comatose state and joined me for some food. Now we're back in our room, he's laid up in bed watching tv shows on HULU on the tv and i'm blogging on the computer. Praise the lamb for split screen laptops!

This is what I wore today:

And introducing my old favorite bag! Man oh man I LOVEEEE this bag!

Outfit Details:
Dress: Boutique in New York City [$70]
Cardigan: Forever 21 [$30]
Bow: Handmade by me! [Buy one! at MY ETSY!]
Tights: Charlotte Russe [$10]
Boots: Goodwill [$10]
Purse: Nashville Vintage in Hillsboro Village [$48]

Now i'm going to go cuddle up with my boo and watch TV on hulu with him, even at the risk of getting sickly. :) For some reason i just got really really giddy thinking about him :) Silly me!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Monday night! Happy Tuesday to you all!

xo
