A Ladies Breakfast, Royal Copenhagen: Welcome to the 152nd Tablescape Thursday!

Earlier in the spring, Cornelia had a ladies breakfast in her beautiful home in Switzerland.

It was near Easter and she created a gorgeous table setting for the event.

Cornelia said, "I had an Invitation this morning.   I invited 5 ladies for breakfast and had a Royal Copenhagen, Musselmalet tablescape. "

"The Musselmalet is also known as Blue fluted.  The china I used is mainly Blue Fluted, Half Lace.  A few pieces are Blue Fluted, Full Lace and some are Blue Fluted, Plain."

What is it about blue and white china?  It is always just so beautiful in any table setting.

The cutlery is silver by Jezler, the pattern is called Comtesse, Countess.

Cornelia said, "The water glasses date back to the sixities, they are Swedish (Kosta Boda) and are hand blown and hand cut crystal."

The Champagne glasses are also vintage.

Cornelia believes they were made in the sixties in Germany. They are hand blown and hand cut crystal.

Cornelia said, "The wrapped egg contains Swiss Chocolate. The small plate is also Blue Fluted Half Lace by Royal Copenhagen. The tablecloth is German. It is  a traditional blue print table cloth."

Cornelia created a beautiful arrangement of tulips in a hand cut crystal Villeroy and Boch vase from the the 50's.

Another gorgeous vase filled with beautiful tulips.  Doesn't this make us wish it was springtime all over again!

The vase is Meissen and the tureen behind the vase is by Nymphenburg/Germany.

Cornelia said, "I had some cheese, different  croissants, brioches and special filled doughnuts together with jam and oranges on a side table. The pastry was made by the local baker shop."

I LOVE this photo, so I saved it for last.  It feels like it should be a painting.  Don't you just love the hint of the chest on the left with the tea set and lit candles, the gorgeous blue chair, the ornaments hanging in the window, the amazing wainscoting.  So beautiful!

Cornelia, thanks so much for sharing your lovely home and beautiful table setting with us.  I know the ladies who joined you for breakfast had a wonderful time!

Easter Tea Party Camouflage

This was my outfit for Easter Sunday with my family last weekend. I first saw the dress in Forever 21 and I squealed a little when I saw it paired with a black studded pyramid belt. I own this exact belt from another dress (2 actually!) but I'm a sucker for dainty floral dresses with edgy twists like the belt. Love! The gal at the register said it was a very "Rocker Girly Girl" and it would fit me perfectly. (I honestly think people expect me to be much "harder" than I really am... I mean, I know I have tattoos and piercings, but I'm really rather reserved and just... not "hard" in any way. I'm not complaining though!)

I've been sickly the past couple of days and yesterday it was really rough. We woke up really early to leave by 8am to drive to Lawrenceburg to attend Mike's sister, Laine's CNA pinning and then we stayed all day so Mike could photograph his bonus-mom's employees (for their new website which I'll be whipping up!). I felt like a party pooper most of the day as I just started feeling so sickly, but it was a good time and then I had to go work. Womp womp womp. Work was slammed and while it was good money, it was a strange night. I was exhausted, and there were so many situations I wasn't happy with. (For one: A pregnant lady was drinking whiskey and cokes at rapid speed. Keep in mind this is not one glass of wine at like 8 months... this is 5 whiskey and cokes in 1.5 hours and she's 6-7 months pregnant. It's illegal to refuse her alcoholic service in Tennessee, but I stated my stance a long time ago and I refuse to serve anyone who is pregnant and wants to drink. There's a gal who comes in who drinks Shirley Temples and I'll gladly fill her order every time, but I have certain morals that make that part of my job very hard. I can't say to her "I won't serve you because you're pregnant" because that's discrimination, and it's her body so it's her choice... but I can say "I won't serve you simply because I don't want to." That's totally legal. Weird, right? It breaks my heart because we all know whiskey and babies don't mix. But there are so many women out there who simply cannot have their own children and well, you know where I'm going with this. I just won't stand for it. I think the other bartender got a little irritated at me because the girl came to order 4 drinks from me and I just walked off. I just cannot do it.) Then another situation transpired and I'm just glad I got out of there and went home to sleep.

Today Mike and I are going to spend the day together since he has the day off. It's already almost 3pm and I have to leave for work at 8 but a few hours will be nice.

There are still some sponsorship spots open and I'm keeping them open in case anyone else wants to partake in the Red Cross drive (as seen here). So far we've raised $100! It's still open for one more week so don't worry, you've got time!

PS; I'm thinking about putting all of my variations of these headbands on my Etsy just to offset the insane financial costs of Georgia and Pipkin's surgeries coming up. I have a ridiculous amount of them made for a craft fair I was going to apply to but right now I think the focus should be on paying for their surgeries instead. Let me know if you think you'd be interested, and I'll try to get those up ASAP!

PPS; You can get 15% off your Blowfish Shoes order by using the code BFKAELAH15! Wahoo!

Easter Weekend

Work definitely wasn't any better on Saturday night... I held out hope but the bar was stocked and ready to go well over an hour and a half before closing. I sat down at the bar in a stool, played on my phone, and hung around until Mike showed up about a quarter after 1am. He drove down in his car to pick me up and we drove to my parents' house because we brought laundry and Georgia with us. I left my car at work overnight.

We were coming into town a little after 2am and all of a sudden Mike asks "Did you just see what I saw?!" I had no clue what he was talking about so we turned around really quickly and looked again... It was a big ol' cow.. a big cow, standing directly on the side of the 4 lane highway... just chewing some grass. Our lights spooked it a bit and it ran down the hill a little. Hohenwald is a tiny tiny rural town, so this WOULD seem normal... except that part of "town" isn't really near any farms. So I called it into 911 (couldn't get my iPhone to process the police #) and told the dispatch that there was a loose cow that looked like it wanted to dodge some traffic. Then I said "Well I'm only calling it in because I'm assuming someone will probably report it missing". The dispatch (who was audibly an older gentleman) exclaimed "I WISH someone would report that thing! It's been evading me for four weeks now! I'll get a call, send someone out there, then the dang thing will just run off! It's bigfoot! You just saw bigfoot!" At this point I'm cracking up, about to pee my pants, and just trying to stay with the dispatch. He was such a friendly fellow, and that conversation pretty much made my week. My parents got a kick out of it Sunday morning, too.

Anywhoo, after sleeping and waking up early (9am-ish?!), mom made breakfast and we ate. After that, I spent some time getting ready and we went to Walmart to grab a couple Easter cards for family. Here's the floppy hat I bought the other day (I didn't wear it yesterday), but the photo below was what I wore for Easter (new dress... but it's a halter top and I'm not crazy about it. I'm thinking it's too poofy).

And a photo of Georgia after running around outside for a while. She was exhausted and hot.

After the Walmart trip, on the way home, I happened to see someone I knew... someone I haven't seen or spoken to in a few years... my father. If you've never seen me post anything really emotional or honest, here's your chance. I recognized him immediately and I couldn't help but start bawling uncontrollably. Mike pulled over to talk to me and stuff, but I just wiped my face, said I wanted to go home, and that was that. Well, until my Mom saw my face. She could tell I was upset about something and I told her. She asked "Did you talk to him?" I said no. She said "Well you're about to" and she walked into her room, called him, and handed me the phone. I was literally running down the hallway opposite of her crying "No, I don't want to! I don't want to!" but alas, she handed the phone off and I spoke. He could tell I was crying but I lied. Regular small talk like work and weather... things you'd talk to your old neighbor about if you hadn't seen one another in a few years. He didn't know what I was going to college for, He didn't know that I graduate in December, blah blah blah. A man... A FATHER... who sees his daughter's name and handwriting EVERY Sunday at work... yet never thinks about calling to check up on her or to say Happy Birthday. This has been going on my entire life. 22 years. A vicious cycle where we'll talk and visit each other for a few months, then we'll fight about something and not speak for years. He says it's because we both have tempers... I say "I got it honestly". Instead of spending time with me, he'd buy me things, take me to the mall, sit me in front of a new flat screen computer, etc. All I wanted was him to take an interest in a volleyball game or a softball scrimmage. Come see me go to Prom or maybe lunch in Franklin. People say I'm lucky to even know who my father is in this day and age... but how easy do you think it is to be 100% sure your father KNOWS of your existence, yet he blatantly avoids you and wants nothing to do with it? We have a house on the Tennessee River with lots of boats and 4wheeelrs and fun stuff. He said he'd like for Mike and I to come down in 4 weeks when I get out of school for the summer. We'll see.... Anyway, whatever.

We ventured out to my Nana's house with part of my extended family. We had a nice lunch (though Mike and I could barely eat anything... My family thinks meat should go in EVERYTHING! And few people were aware of the fact that we don't eat meat.... even though I went vegetarian when I was thirteen haha), good conversation, I met my cousin's new baby (she's adorable!), and we shot some more pictures with our throw away cameras (post soon!).

After a while we gathered our things, said our goodbyes, and headed back to Franklin. Well, Mike drove me to get my car in Columbia. I passed out the whole way. As we were pulling out of work, low-and-behold, guess who is pulling in to do Sunday inventory? My father. As if yesterday couldn't have gotten any more awkward. It was casual small talk once more. The first time he's seen me in years. Red hair. Tattoos. It's all new to him. We drove back home and dropped off some film. I tried getting into school to do some work but it was locked so I came home and worked on it. Mike and I brainstormed my book idea once more and came up with something better. (Thank you if you submitted stuff! I'll still try to use it!) We made dinner and tried watching Dexter but the website was shoddy. We caught up on Community and Modern Family before hitting the hay.

I've been up for an our already (early to rise at 8:30am) and I'm about to wake up Mike. We've got things to do!

I'm headed to Nashville tomorrow to go approve the sketch for my calf tattoo on Wednesday. This week is going to be so incredibly hectic. The book/super comp is due on Wednesday, and a million page paper is due on Friday. Just let me get through this week!

I have to pay my NYC rent this week too.... $4600 for 2.5 months. GEEEEZE!

Happy New Week!

Pink Saturday and a Little Spring Tablescaping...

Pink Saturday, is graciously hosted each week by Beverly, at How Sweet the Sound. Be sure to visit Beverly's wonderful blog to see a complete list of all the participants in today's Pink Saturday.

With Spring in full bloom, let's celebrate Pink Saturday, with some beautiful tablescapes created by my dear friend, Linda, who is sometimes affectionately called "Mom" since she is "Mom of a German Shorthair" on RMS. Each one has touches of that lovely spring color, pink. Enjoy!

I love all the bunnies in this tablescape. I believe I spy some beautiful Herend bunnies, too. Oh, and there's even a figural bunny napkin ring. Now this definitely says, SPRING!

Are you spotting the pink in each of the tablescapes...after all, it's Pink Saturday! :-)

Beautiful...both the view and the tablescape!

I love the egg cup with the face...reminds me of Gollum's. :-) Isn't the tablecloth wonderful?! Pink jelly beans...yum!

Another wonderful, figural napkin ring and a cute, pink, spotted egg...

I LOVE this china! Linda, please share the pattern with us...it's lovely! Linda is one lucky bird...I just found out she actually knows Mary Carol Garrity, the owner of the Nell Hill's stores and the author of the book, Feather Your Nest. I love how Linda incorporated her book right into this tablescape with all the adorable nests. :-)

Thanks, Linda, for sharing these beautiful tablescapes for Pink Saturday. You can see more of Linda's beautiful tablescapes by clicking HERE.

In case you missed it, those white, Target birds are up to lots of michief. Just click HERE for all the details and information on how to play along on Wednesday, April 15th.

Also, Monday is Metamorphosis Monday...what Before and Afters will you be sharing...can't wait to see!

Don't forget to stop by Beverly's by clicking HERE for more Pink Saturday fun! Have a glorious weekend!

Easter Tablescape! Welcome to the 33rd Tablescape Thursday!

A little Easter tablescape...hope you enjoy! :-)

Closed the shutters a bit...so we could enjoy the candlelight.

Happy Easter! :-)

China is Ma Maison, designed by Dario Farrucci for Tabletops...bought it last summer at Home Goods...love that store!

A view of the dinner plate... Chargers are from Neiman Marcus or Horchow...forgot which. I saw them again recently on one of those sites, so they may still be available.

Napolean Bee Flatware is from Horchow or NM...bought it last year but it is still available, too.

The bees have landed on the glassware, too. The wine and tea glasses are made in France by La Rochere. In the past, I've only seen them available online or on eBay...and they were always a bit too pricey for me. A couple of weeks ago I found the wine glasses at Marshalls, for half of what I'd seen online on eBay. They also had the small water/tea glasses but they were a bit small. I looked again on eBay and found these 13.5 oz glasses at a price almost as good as Marshalls. Do you see the little bees that encircle the glass?

Close-up of one of the little bees...hope you can see him...glassware is a little tricky to photograph. La Rochere is known for making glassware that is especially clear...has to do with the "ingredients" they use to make the glass. I love the way all the colors of the tablescape created a rainbow effect. :-)

The wine glasses are filled with colorful excelsior and candy-covered, almond eggs, as well as these swirly lollipops. Each lollipop has a little candy critter :-) attached under the bow...this one is an egg.

A little bear...

A chick...

And a little lamb...

Every Easter tablescape needs a bunny! :-)

I found this little egg tree a couple of years back at Marshalls. Replaced all the eggs this year...the old ones were beginning to crack. The top looked bare, so I made the bow with some ribbon I found at Big Lots last year...then I just intertwined the ends of the ribbon down through the tree.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
