SHARKZ!

this is baby g right now. she jsut ripped all of my sheets off my bed
and then passed out immediately thereafter. amazing.

i spent most of today in stores... i know i shouldn't have.. but i did. i acquired new fabrics, an eyelet kit, new threads, lots of new patterned paper, christmas ornaments, wreaths, lots and lots of spray paint, twinkle lights, wooden shelves (which i spray painted 'ballet slipper' pink tonight), several ADORABLE dresses, a few cardigans and a sweater. i have a cute new outfit to wear every single day until the semester is over! ill try to take pictures but knowing me and my amount of stress currently, ill go to school in jeans and a hoodie (ew, i know!).

i can't wait to show you all what i've been crafting lately and i can't wait to redo my room! its literally the driving force for the next week and a half to fly by! i think i might get a headboard or a new bed for christmas. right now i only have a frame but i think it'll be a nice new touch. i'm also looking for an L-shaped desk that isnt TOO big so i can get rid of all my small desks/bookshelves and put it all on one. that way i can use the small side for sewing and then the larger side for my computer, etc.

anyway, i need to sleep because i promised myself i'd be up at 7am (yeah right) and be SERIOUSLY productive tomorrow! i have so much to get done, especially if i want to see josh while he's in town. then it's back to the grind. luckily school is open 24 hours this week. huzzah!

i'll leave you with some epic pictures of my favorite animal. goodnight!

A New Use for Old Discarded Windows... Welcome to the 46th Metamorphosis Monday!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I've been out of state visiting my son and his sweetie. It was a whirlwind trip and so much fun. My son gave me a tour of the law school he's attending, as well as a tour of the wonderful historic building where he works with a local firm. We did a little shopping on Black Friday and went to see A Christmas Carol on Saturday. It was a great trip and I'm so looking forward to when they come home to Georgia for Christmas.

I have a fun metamorphosis to share with you today. A while back, while out antiquing with a friend, I came across something that was sooooo cute, I knew I had to share it with you!

Here's your first little peek...(click on any pic twice to REALLY enlarge for an even closer look)

A second peek...

Another little peak...

Have you figured out what it is? Ok...I won't torture you any longer. I have to warn you though, it is soooo cute you may scream with delight! It may send you on a mad hunt, looking for old, abandoned windows so you can create this metamorphosis yourself.

Is this not completely adorable?! Come a little closer and take a look inside...

I could see using it this way at Christmas...or perhaps as a green house in the summer months. Click on any pic twice to ENLARGE for a really CLOSE view.

If you collect the Dept. 56 lit houses, this would be a wonderful place to build a small village or vignette.

Here's a little view through the door way...

I took pics from different angles, so you could see how it's constructed. The first few pics of this post show some close-ups of the details.

Wouldn't it be really cute in a sun room, on a front porch or a screened-in porch?

Really, I could see using it in almost any room. I didn't buy it since it was well over $300, but I took lots of pics so I could remember how it was constructed and so I could share it with you. I think we could make one of these if we put our minds to it! :-)

So, don't throw out those old windows when you get your new energy efficient ones. They will make a wonderful glass house or greenhouse and a great spot to display your collectibles and create wonderful vignettes.

Looking forward to seeing all your "Before and Afters."

dress.

i am in love.
Anthropologie's Golden Light Dress.
if only i could justify $188.

i'm [this] close to getting that Betsey Johnson
dress i've been watching on ebay. chances are likely
that it's a knockoff but it's equally as cute.

Ten Rules for Being Human

Ten Rules for Being Human
by Cherie Carter-Scott

  1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it's yours to keep for the entire period
  2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, "life."
  3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately "work."
  4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
  5. Learning lessons does not end. There's no part of life that doesn't contain its lessons. If you're alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.
  6. "There" is no better a place than "here." When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."
  7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.
  8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tool and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
  9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life's questions lie within you. All you have to do is look.
  10. You will forget all this.

hello, my favorites!

its that time of the semester... you know, final projects, cramming for 16 hours for the art history final because that class is really really stupid (& so hard!), trying to get the puppy enough play time so she doesn't feel neglected, visiting family and having family visit, holidays, shopping, volunteering, planning, preparing... yeah... it's finals week. my room looks like a tornado. i kid you not. there are things everywhere. clothes galore, georgia's chew toys, unwrapped christmas presents, empty picture frames, yadda yadda yadda.

i'm going to be fairly distant this week. well, up until next tuesday to be exact. these last 7 school days are sure to test my patience, my passion, and basically my sanity. i'll get through them though.

i'm going to try to update over the next several days, don't worry. but please realize that i'll be a slight hiatus until finals week has passed me by.

you're all fantastic.

remember, if you want to swap christmas cards or anything like that, email me! (kaelahbee at gmail dot com) i love sending out cards and anyone i receive anything from will undoubtedly receive something back! i've been working on handmade ornaments and necklaces! <3

happy thanksgiving.

or should i say, happy black friday?! i've been absent for a few days because i'm visiting my parents down in my hometown. i had to work at the bar wednesday night and then yesterday was spent at my step dad's family thing... i didnt even have cell phone service! eeek! i've been taking a much needed break from the internet. the cell signal here isn't even all that great so its been nice to stay off the computer, stay away from homework, not talk to anyone really, and watch tv, hang out with my parents and just kick it. so so so nice!

i didnt go black friday shopping, instead i slept until 9am. it was nice. im watching "say yes to the dress" on tlc now and mom just made breakfast! my favorite :D tonight i have to work and i have to go back to franklin prior so i can take georgia home.

ill attempt to post today but if i dont, rest assured that i'll return tomorrow. im enjoying this break :D

i hope you all had a fantastic holiday and i'm so very thankful for all of you. you're all amazing.

Christmas Tablescape: Welcome to the 66th Tablescape Thursday!

Happy Thanksgiving, this Tablescape Thursday! After posting Thanksgiving tablescapes all week, how about a whimsical Christmas table setting? I took pics in different types of lighting...amazing all the different looks you get by just changing the lighting.

Tilted the shutters closed to enjoy the candlelight a bit.

Love those Christmas plaids.

Salad plates are from HomeGoods. Dinner plate is Lenox, Butler's Pantry Gourmet.

This whimsical Gourmet Settings flatware worked well for this tablescape. The flatware pattern is Treble Clef and it is available by clicking on Gourmet Settings Flatware.

If you follow BNOTP on Facebook (link on sidebar) you remember the amazing deal I found on this Spode glassware at Marshalls.

Plaid napkins are from Marshalls, also.

Beaded napkin rings were only $1 each from Old Time Pottery.

They add a touch of glamour to our whimsy.

Another fabulous find I shared a few weeks ago with BNOTP Facebook followers was this whimsical Dept. 56, cake cover. The cover was going on eBay for $50-$75. I found it at TJ Maxx for $19.95. I started my search for a cute cake stand to go with it... that was also, reasonably priced.

Doesn't this one look like it was made to go with it...it was only $12 at Marshalls.

This guy makes you think of The Nutcracker ballet, doesn't he?  He was a Christmas gift from my son several years ago.

Thanks for stopping by.

Looking forward to seeing your tablescapes!

eat, pray, love.

i think i'm going to finally go buy this book tomorrow while i run errands in the a.m... i've heard such mixed reviews but every PERSON i've discussed it with has loved it. raved on and on. it was only the online reviews that said otherwise. either way, i think it would be a good read, right?

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
— Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

quotes.

it's been a hot minute since i've done a post full of quotes... and many of these are repeats... but they're repeats for a reason. they're good. they're true. they're honest. they're exactly what we need to hear. and to be quite honest, my heart just needed a little quote therapy. :)

“ I think in a way that it’s good, you know? I mean, maybe it’s the only way that we could finally stand on our own. You know, to hurt each other so much that we have no choice but to let go. Maybe otherwise we never would. ” -dawson's creek

------------

“ You’ve always been this possibility for me. This wonderful possibility, but it’s just not right. And I’m so sorry. I need you to know that you’re the man I wanted to want. ”
— Gilmore Girls

------------

“ You’ll never find the right guy, if you’re still holding onto the wrong one. ”

------------

If winning is getting up one more time than you fall down. If strength is more than muscle. If time teaches us patience. And knowledge gives us grace.

Then we will go forward. Remembering the past. But never yearning for it.

There is so much more to look forward to.

------------

Keep your heart free from hate, your mind free from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Fill your life with love. Scatter sunshine. Forget self, think of others. Do as you would be done by. It’s the way to happiness. Try this for a week and you will be surprised.
— H.C. Mattern

------------

This is your life, right now. It doesn’t wait for you to get back on your feet.
— A Lot Like Love

------------

When the men betray you - and they will betray you- use this as an opportunity to forgive, as a heightened experience from which you can make music, write poetry, paint paintings. Believe me, you will be privy to a world that’s more vivid than your crayon - more colorful than those snapshots your father is so fond of. A place where your creativity is queen. So plunge in, say yes, fall recklessly in love. Feel more deeply than your friends do. Hit the heights, descend into the depths. Kiss the lads smack on the lips and move on- like it did. I survived love and you will too. — The Lost Girls

------------

People keep telling me that I fall in love too easily- that I should protect my heart, that I shouldn’t wear my heart on my sleeve… I fall in love at least 20 times a day. I fall in love with the sky and the sun and the flowers and my children. I fall in love with smiles, with music on the radio and with french fries and Dr. Pepper. I fall in love with the sound of laughter, blue jeans, accents… Sometimes I fall in love with complete strangers, especially the ones holding hands and kissing in public. The ones who aren’t afraid to be in love with the idea of being in love either. I don’t mind the pain of unrequited love so much, because I think they’re wrong. Love looks good on me.
— Natalie Anne Erlanson

------------

When there has been so much love and happiness for someone, it is natural to be reluctant to close such a wonderful chapter in our lives, for moving forward is rarely accomplished without considerable grief and sadness. And while our sorrow may be profound, the clouds will clear, and the sun will shine on us again. And in that warm, bright light we will find ourselves facing a glorious future. A future of exciting challenges and infinite possibilities, in which the horizon will stretch out before us, trimmed in the heavenly glow of the sunrise of our tomorrow.
— The Prince & Me

------------

You’re going to come across people in your life who will say all the right words at all the right times. But in the end, it’s always their actions you should judge them by. It’s actions, not words, that matter. — Nicholas Sparks, The Rescue

------------

As you become more clear about who you really are, you’ll be better able to decide what is best for you - the first time around
— Oprah Winfrey

------------

There will always be people in your life, Sweet Angel, who hold you back, who cost you too much, and who fail to see all you’ve done for them. But, of course, they’re just there to teach you that you do have time, that you’ll always be rich, and that your own high standards are all that matter.
Sounds like a good deal to me, Sweet Angel.
— You knew that,
The Universe

woooooohhhweeee!

sometimes i think i am the single-most awkward girl on the planet. hand to God. i feel like i have the ability to make the most confident person just feel oh so strange in my presence. then again, 99% of the time its just ME that feels awkward in a situation. i love reading blogs and emails and such about girls and the boys they adore. whether they be crushes or boyfriends, fiances or husbands... its endearing. but anyway, i guess my point with that is... i wish i could stop being so shy! oh my word! i just get SILLY when a boy i'm interested in comes around. i suppose it also has a lot to do with the fact i've never had a REAL ADULT RELATIONSHIP. sure, adam and i were together for like 3 years... but i started dating him when i was 18... far from a real adult. now here i am, almost 22 years old, and i'm ready for that MATURE relationship. it'll be good when it comes around. i know it :) i guess i'm just nervous.

its strange to be where i am right now in terms of things pertaining to adam. i'm just... indifferent. granted, i want him to give me my $600 and my things that are in california, and it'd be nice if he'd deactivate the cs3 on the macbook he has of mine so i can register mine... but otherwise, i'm completely and totally impartial. i'm at a point where i find no need to facebook stalk or anything like that. i can finally breathe a sigh of relief! i know some of you still facebook stalk, don't you?! :P don't be ashamed!

one thing that does scare me though, is what if the next guy i meet and become attracted to has a shady crazy past like adam? what if he's hiding a turbulant relationship gone wrong where he really WAS the bad guy?! c'mon, we can all agree on one thing... adam was the bad guy and he just outright sucked at the end. what if this dude is really like that? how will i be able to tell?! granted his past is his past, but i dont want to waste another 3 years finding out a guy is a total doucher ya know? but i guess that is life. i should use the word "waste" lightly.. i learned a lot.. about myself and other people... during those 3 years. but thats definitely not to say i wouldn't sock him right in the kisser if i saw him tomorrow. boy oh boy i would :)

i guess this is where i say "not all guys are adam"... not all of them suck royally. :)

in other, totally non-related news, its now 2:15am and i'm sitting in my undies at my desk with my fat snoring puppy by my side and i've been crafting for hours. i shouldn't do that after midnight. my usually sloppy ways get even sloppier. i've been sewing and cutting and crafting polaroid (felt) ornaments and cutting fabric for hte fabric bunting that will line my newly decorated/rearranged room! i'm goign to be doing lots of fun things, lots of positive affirmations, and all thta jazz once christmas break rolls around. i can't tell you how much i'm looking forward to just moving crap around in my room! it'll be therapeutic!

(fabric bunting by sparklecandace)

i need to sleep so i can wake up at 8am, go get mice for Zero because my poor snake hasn't eaten in weeks, gather all of my stuff and laundry, load baby G in the car, go to the bank and high tail it down to hohenwald. i'll stay for a few hours, head back towards columbia to work at 8 (no clue when i'll get off.. sometime between 12 and 2am) then back to the parents to sleep, wake up and go to the stepdad's family's for thanksgiving dinner and who knows what else.

man oh man!

i hope all of you have a safe and happy thanksgiving! (and if you're not in the US, i hope you have a safe and happy wednesday/thursday! :P)

is anyone going black friday shopping?! i think i'm going to stay at home haha

ps; i bought myself an early christmas present today! a chocolate FujiFilm Instax Mini 7S! so so so so so so so excited! sadly it wont be here for 2-3 weeks (so says the site). but i hope it comes sooner! the instant pictures are the size of credit cards! so cute!

wishlist!

so i've always been incredibly independent, even to the point to where i'm damn near impossible to shop for at christmas. i LOVE christmas though. i don't ever get tired of the christmas music, the lights, the decorations, anything. i love showering people i adore with things their hearts lust for. thats just my love language i guess. but the holidays! i love it all. mainly because its the only time i really get to go back home to my parents' for a more than a day or two. but every year its the same routine... my mom asks "what do you want for christmas?" and my answer never changes "nothing really." because i dont NEED anything. and if i WANT anything special, i go buy it for myself. i dont wait for a special occasion. i've definitely tried reigning in my spending as of late (way easier said than done!) but i've been good about not going to the mall. huzzah! so heres a small little list of things i'd love for christmas (but i'm still not asking my parents for... i dont know.. i just... i dont feel like i need to be bought things... granted that doesnt keep my heart from wanting :P)
